Historic Call Boxes Restoration

In 2012, it is our goal to fund the restoration of as many as possible of the 10 abandoned historic police and fire call boxes in Adams Morgan. Preference will be given to those in or near the commercial area with greatest visibility. (Dupont Circle, Sheridan-Kalorama, and Mt. Pleasant are some neighborhoods that have done a similar project.)  By donating to Adams Morgan Main Street Group you will assist us in joining the effort to add more art and culture to one of DC's most distinctive neighborhoods.  Each call box will display a theme of a historical event, destination or personality.  Your participation can help create a neighborhood legacy supporting new historic street life artwork and installations.  You can even adopt your very own call box (which will include a plaque with your name).  Let's work together to restore the historical call boxes that will enhance our beloved neighborhood with a mixture of beauty and history.

Our first goal is to restore 3 call boxes whose themes are chosen or underway. Below are the first 3 call box locations and themes.

Call Box #5 - 18th St. & Belmont St.

To proceed,  we are in need of donations and sponsorships. If you would like to contribute to the restoration of these call boxes you can give a donation of any amount or choose from the options below:

Name Recognition: Donations of $1,500 or more will receive shared name recognition on a restored historic call box.   Ex. "This call box was sponsored by the Smith, Jones and Brown families."

Adopt One Call Box: Donations of $3,500 or more will receive exclusive sponsorship "Thank You" plaque and name recognition on a restored historic call box.    Ex. "This call box was sponsored by the Smith family."

Underwriting: Donations of $5,000 will receive underwriting partnership recognition on 3 - 5 call boxes. Ex. Business Name is the proud Underwriter Partner of the Adams Morgan call box program.
